School Closures

The decisions made around the Coronavirus change very quickly, but the plan is for all schools to prepare homework packs for each student so education can continue if a school closure is required.  It is possible that schools will close BEFORE the planned Easter Holidays, but the decision will come down to scientific and medical judgement to act at the best time to reduce the spread of the virus.

Closing schools early have obvious child care implications, and with the threat to the elderly from the virus, older relatives will not be sensible to look after children who could be carrying the virus.  Parents taking time of work could be problematic to the community if they work in heathcare industry, or in the supply of food, power or heat.

There is a high probabilty that schools will close Friday 20th March for Easter.

Check the Neath Port Talbot Council Emergency School Closures page for the latest news on the schools.
